The Role of the Friends
The purpose of The Friends of the Contemporary Museum is to increase
public awareness and provide support for The Contemporary Museum.
BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP
Special treats await members of The Friends. We offer a variety of
events that encourage camaraderie among people who share an interest in art and
creativity.
ArtTours
Periodic tours of artists’ studios and collectors’ homes are special
benefits of membership in The Friends. Over the past several years we have visited over a
dozen studios, speaking with the artists directly and gaining a better understanding of
their works and the creative process.
Friends FLASH
Our periodic newsletter will keep you abreast of our activities and upcoming
events, as well as provide information on where the Friends or the Museum could use some
volunteer help.
MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION
Membership is open to anyone who is interested in advancing the purpose
of the organization and The Contemporary Museum. Active members of The Friends volunteer
throughout the year on annual events such as ConTempo and ArtSpree and on special tours
and programs.
The amount of time members give depends on each person’s interest and
availability. Some volunteers work on a project from concept to wrap-up. Others help for
just a few hours at a time.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Community Activities and Special Events
Increase museum exposure to the community by getting involved in
educational and/or social activities such as ArtSpree, our
annual summer open house, our Art Lovers Workshops, and ConTempo, our annual spring gala benefit. Even one hour a
month can make a difference.
Volunteering with the Friends is a great way to meet people with similar interests and we are always looking for
help in various capacities. On the Membership form (Be a Friends member for $20) you will
see a list of areas where we need volunteers. Please print the form, tick off the areas you are
interested in, mail it in and we’ll contact you.

volunteers for ARTSPREE 2010 on July 10.

Museum Services
Aid the museum in its daily activities with volunteer support at the
Exhibit Openings, Entry Lanai, The Museum Shop, Cades Library, Administration Office,
gallery installations, and wherever necessary.
