HOW DREAMS BECOME

The AP Studio Art students at Roosevelt High School decided to focus on education, the common element between the Contemporary Museum and Roosevelt High School.  Mixed media artwork was created to depict the journey they will take to realize their dreams and aspirations.  Discarded books were used to symbolize the importance of education.  The base is made up of books stacked and twisted to create a spiral, the upward journey.  The seat of the bench is made up of open books with images and objects representing the journey to the students’ dreams and aspirations.

Daniel Arata: Since childhood, I dreamt of having the powers of Spiderman. Today, I glide through the city on my skateboard, in pursuit of my future.

Candace Cardoza: At this time in my life, the future is a vague vision, a mountain path into the open sky. This uncertainty frustrates me, so I strive for the things that make me happy.

Bonnie Gao: Dreams become reality, as a simple concept becomes a great interior design.

Erin Hamada: Drawing helps me express the ideas and feelings I can’t express in words. My dreams become reality through my drawings.

Caleb Hartsfield: In order to live big you have to dream big, and to live in the clouds just means that you’re that much closer to the stars. Dream bold, RAWK-on.

Kevin Leong: Stairs enable architects to move people to higher heights. Most are direct but sometimes they lead us to new and exciting vistas.

Kimberly Sakane: In life, we should pursue the passion that drives us to be true to ourselves and to strive for our dreams and aspirations, even through adversity.

Janet Tran: Dreams are limitless and forever changing. They flow freely through our minds, reminding us of the desires we seek. At the same time, dreams can become nightmares, harboring self-doubt and failure.

Demi Yoshimoto: The world is my treasure map. To meet new people and experience new places is my goal. Throughout my travels, “X’ marks the spot dearest to me, home.

Stacy Youn: The road to becoming an architect meanders through years of education and hard work, into a life of making visions reality.
