TITLE:  REFLECTION POOL - SOLD

Lori Uyehara has worked in clay, paint, fiber, and wood. When she works with wood, as with this bench, she prefers to utilize the natural colors of the material. Here, she uses the darker wood to approximate the deeper water of a pond, the wood grain appearing as ripples in the “water”. She has carved and inlaid lighter wood for the winged insects which seem to skim across the surface. The seats are placed so that two people are able to gaze into the “pond,” perhaps an adult perched above a child at the water’s edge, both sharing a reflective moment.    Click here for another view.
