LELAND MIYANO![]() |
TITLE: AUTUMNAL
MATERIALS: Primavera wood DIMENSIONS: 17” x 84” x 24” SPONSORED BY: The HONU GROUP INC. Leland Miyano is an artist and landscape designer. This wood bench is evidence of his fascination with natural cycles. He harvested the Primavera tree in March of this year after it had fallen naturally. The wood, which is light in color and extremely hard, originates from Mexico and Central America. The artist has made all parts of the bench from this same tree to honor and preserve its identity, and he has burned the “legs” in further reference to the cycle of life and death. Visible tool marks on the wood have been left to show Miyano’s process. LOCATION: Kahala Mall © 2008 - The Contemporary Museum - All Rights Reserved |
