Since its inception in 1988, The Contemporary Museum has continued to present high quality works of art  by mainland and Hawaii artists. We celebrate our 20th anniversary this October with this special "Benchmark" activity that furthers the TCM mission of developing an appreciation and understanding of contemporary art. Up to 50% of the retail value of the work benefits the participating artists, with the remaining 50%, plus any amount over retail on the auction works, supporting museum programs.

The Benchmark art exhibition is comprised of two parts: an Auction while the benches are in areas for public viewing, and a return of the benches to The Contemporary Museum ground for our birthday celebration and final public viewing before distribution to the winners of the auction. The Auction will be held throughout the time the benches are in public places, from mid-September to mid-October.
